Equal Midlothian Week gets underway from Monday 20 to Friday 24 May. The purpose of the week is to raise awareness of equality issues and to promote a more equal Midlothian. A range of organisations working on equalities issues will be holding online free events during the week to highlight the work they do. The week culminates with the free, family-friendly Midlothian Mela event in the The Gorebridge Beacon.

This the first of five events to be delivered across the Scottish central coal belt in 2024 to to facilite greater awareness and understanding of the geology, ecology and potential for both black to green engery transitions and carbon capture of former mining landscapes.
