‘Anyone for tennis? event’ on Saturday 30th, Newtongrange Park old tennis courts 10am-1pm

Anyone for tennis in the park this Saturday morning?

Things are starting to happen in the old tennis courts in the park thanks to cooperation with Justin Venton, Land and Countryside Manager & team, Andy Thompson, Michael Robson, Newtongrange Primary School, Mactaggart & Mickel, NDT and NCC.

The tennis courts were looking in a desperate state back in February. NCC liaised with Justin Venton to get the much promised clean up of the astroturf and painting of lines for racket sport provision.

Andy Thompson provided a through clean and maintenance of the surface and Midlothian Council employees painted the lines.

Thanks also to the regular litter tidy sessions & adhoc clean ups by the Newtongrange Park Life group & others. The park is getting the attention it deserves. Especially with the park approaching its centenary year in 2026.

NCC have noticed an increased use of the courts. With football, exercise groups and tennis players utilizing the new lines but where are the nets?

They arrived this week & we will have our first event this Saturday morning from 10am. Michael Robson will be leading the session which should be a fun event.

Thanks to Newtongrange Primary School we will be able to provide use of a children sized net, tennis & badminton rackets. We also have balls & shuttlecocks available to use on Saturday 30th of July. Any adult who knows where their racket is lurking maybe bring them along.

All ages please just come down to the park this Saturday from 10am-1pm. Whether an absolute beginner or advanced at tennis or badminton please come along.

A reminder that Newtongrange Development Trust has a School Uniform event on Saturday from 11am-1pm @ 72 Main Street.
