Flower Power

Midlothian Council is grassing our flower beds: join the campaign to save them

During a consultation with Dr Grace Vickers, Midlothian Council CEO, the NCC was assured that the war memorial flower beds are to continue to be maintained by Midlothian Council which is fantastic news. In the NCC’s April meeting we agreed to follow up and ensure that has been communicated to the Land and Countryside Manager Justin Venton and his team.

Meanwhile, the NCC is to meet Justin to learn what resources might be available to the community to enable willing bodies, groups or businesses to take on a flower bed. This will hopefully take place at our next general meeting.

The idea, in its infancy, is to take whatever resources Midlothian Council can manage to supply and combine that with whatever resources our village can supply and see if there are any gaps we need to resolve. The look of our village is a source of pride for us all and I think we will prove that village pride will overcome lack of Council resources.

Would you like to be involved in turning our Flower Beds into a good news story?
