Online meeting, this month capturing the resilience processes: highlights and on-going issues. Police pressed for responses to complaints and initial thoughts about a Community Development Trust.
The agenda for online meeting of NCC dominated once again by Newtongrange Resilience and community ideas the NCC can support for the village post pandemic.
Online meeting focussed mainly on the achievements of the Newtongrange Resilience operation, improved maintenance of Welfare Park and future engagement with Midlothian Council
The agenda for online meeting of NCC continuing the theme of support for the village through the COVID-19 crisis: Newtongrange Resilience Volunteers update, Letter of support from the Lord-Lieutenant for Midlothian and activities keeping the community together post this pandemic and more.
Many people in the news, papers and television have made comparisons between COVID19 and the sense of community resilience displayed in village life during WW2. We are keen to hear recollections of VE Day and how you might choose to remember on the day.

The second digital NCC meeting including Councillor Jim Muirhead, assigned officer Sandra Banks from Midlothian Council (Communities & Lifelong Learning), Connor Wright and Brian Tannerhill. The meeting highlighted the impact and successes of Newtongrange Resilience Volunteers (NRV) and NC1 receiving Lottery funding. Brian Tannerhill introduced his Last Hurrah proposal to council for discussion. Cllr Muirhead reported on current situation for MC, police report, groups congregating, Welfare Park and VE Day promotion discussed.
Continuing the theme of support for the village through the COVID-19 crisis: The Newtongrange Resilience Volunteers update, alternative plans for VE Day and other activities to help the community through isolation.
The first ever digital NCC zoom meeting including Councillor Muirhead and assigned officer Sandra Banks from Midlothian Council (Communities & Lifelong Learning) stressing the importance of the Newtongrange Resilience campaign during the coronavirus outbreak. MC critical services, police report, litter pick, key secretarial duties, parking non-essential objectives and the Newtongrange Masterplan discussed.

Any situation where we are told that if we can keep UK deaths under 20,000 we will have done well, is clearly not a good one. This is a tough time. Something about the scale of that number means that many families will be touched directly by loss, and if deaths can prevented we should be doing everything we can.
