There was no Remembrance Sunday Service held in the village this year, but a few community groups met at the War Memorial on Sunday 8th November and held a two minute silence before laying their poppy wreaths.
On Armistice Day, Wednesday 11th November, the Reverend Gayle Taylor conducted a short service at the War Memorial and several representatives from community groups attended. During the two minute silence, people remembered those who had served our country. Poppy wreaths were then laid in memory of our brave servicemen.
Do you or someone you know have a battery-operated driver or grinder. That you can come down and help to strip paint rust from the Newtongrange Welfare Park railings? Or can lend to the volunteers working on the railings.
The group has now stripped and repainted about 120 metres of railing along Bryan's Road/Park Road.
The action is required as a large external group are willing to come to the village to paint for us. As a result we are endeavouring to strip back as much raling on Park Road ASAP and need as much mechanical tools as possible to do this preparatory work.
