Supporting our proud village
Following the AGM, and agreement on the NCC objectives being fit for purpose, a condensed meeting raised actions about the formation of the Newtongrange Masterplan steering group, double roundabout repainting, reduced bus services, park seating.
The AGM looks at the year’s progress sets the meeting schedule for 2020 and sees the election of members and office bearers. All welcome.
In a moving service, poppy wreaths were placed at the War Memorial, and participants paid homage to all those brave heroes.
Ahead of Remembrance Sunday, attandance at this meeting was a clear indicator of community frustration about the state of our public spaces and willingness to contribute to village development. Cllr Jim Muirhead was in attendance to hear it first hand.

We meet Gillian Cousin, our new Midlothian Council Communities Officer. She’s taken on a lot amid the lack of activity on the Newtongrange Masterplan and deterioration of our public spaces.
Returning from summer break, the NCC spent ninety minutes with Christine Grahame MSP getting feedback on transport issues and how to get the most out of our embattled council.

The Newtongrange Primary School Travel Plan: successfully increasing the safety and long term health of our children.
A huge thank you to everyone who welcomed us into their gardens today!
It was amazing to see how much effort, time and love so many people have put into these gorgeous green spaces, and our judges came away feeling very inspired with lots of ideas to recreate in their own homes!
The winners will be announced at the Newtongrange Welfare Park Centenary event, so make sure Saturday 19th September is marked in your diary.
In the meantime, a massive well done to everyone who took part, you should all be very proud of what you have created.

Rake your lawns and straighten your pots, the judges are out and about in the village this morning to rate your gardens in the Newtongrange garden competition.
